Thanks for this, there were lots of things I hadn’t considered before in wi-fi vulnerabilities.
I was wondering about the Alfa adapters. I’ve had a few burn out on me and was wondering if there were models that you’ve found to be more reliable than others.
Also, what are your go to antennas for the adapters?

The Alfa blacks have been very reliable for us. We have one that has been at our office, functional, longer than I have. The AWUS036NEH is a solid choice.
As far as antenna go, I rarely mix between adapters. The antenna are designed to support a specific output intensity on a particular frequency. I have wondered if mixing antenna on the grays may have torched their radios..
